White Night

Last night, my host, Brett and his lovely girl friend, Alison, showed me around one of the most brilliant festivals that I've ever been to. It was a huge festival located in the inner city part of Melbourne. There were numerous food stands and art exhibits, some were produced by casting light onto the facade of buildings to make them look as if they were painted! As in awe as I was of the lights and art, I was even more in awe of how many people there were. It may have been the most people I have ever seen at once in my lifetime. I got some pretty cool photos of this amazing night that lasted until my feet were sore. I'd like to thank Brett and Alison for letting me tag along and giving me the opportunity to witness a Melbourne community event where everyone came together to have a great night.

The amount of people there was insane! Here you'll see me swimming through that sea of people:

Then I saw the horses...and of course I had to go pet them.

The first lit building that I saw was this one, and I thought that it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen, but it couldn't compare to what I was about to see next. (Also, you can't tell, but the one on the right is patterned so that it looks as if it's crocheted. Mom and Gretchen represent!)

The next building that we saw was lit up so that the windows looked like they were stained glass. I was fooled into thinking that they really were at first glance.

And then we ran into this guy. His name was Reuben Stone and he, in my opinion, was amazing. His music making technique was very original. He played his guitar then recorded multiple clips of himself beat boxing and put it all together with him singing over it. I purchased a cd. But I am still not positive if the crowd of people circling him were there for him or the kid jamming out dancing, only stopping for minor drink breaks. (If you know my little cousin, Sophia, this is her soul mate. I'm sure of it).

Next was the Victorian Arts Centre, which I thought looked very majestic with its tower lit up. As well as a digital art display of different body art (which I enjoyed very much).

And here we have some random shots from around the city that I thought were very cool...and I may have been making an attempt at being artsy...and possibly failing.

And last but not least, we have my absolute favorite building of them all. It is extremely beautiful lit up the way that it was. I am still in awe of how they calculated the angles of the lights to hit just right on the buildings.
