The Quest for Pretzels

First of all, I would just like to state that I will be posting pictures of every new food that I try so that my Aunt Darci and Uncle Eric can't rag on my for not trying new foods ;). Anywho, yesterday was a pretty chill day. I didn't do to much, just walking around Melbourne again, my main mission being to find pretzels. And alas, I FOUND THEM. I had to navigate through the biggest mall I have ever stepped foot in (5 stories) to find a grocery store called Cole's where I found my kryptonite, pretzels. While walking through this grocery store I also came across the nectar of the God's, Ribena. I have craved this since my first sip in England when I was 11. Later that day, for dinner, I wasn't too hungry, but I haven't been eating very regular lately (something I will improve when I move into my dorm). So I walked down the block and found a small bar called "Thornbury Local" with a very chill vibe. The menu was not what I expected at all, and I couldn't tell you what half of the things were. I almost left without ordering, when I decided to challenge myself and my tastebuds and order something new. If you know me, you know that this may have been the boldest food related action that I have ever done in the 20 years that I've been alive. I ordered the "chicken ribs," which I assumed to be the same as chicken wings. When they came, they were chicken wings, but covered in tomato sauce and cheese. Cheese isn't my favorite thing in the world, especially in large quantities, so I did scrape some of it off...but I ate it and it wasn't too bad!

Today it rained in the morning, which put a damper on my plans to go to the Queen Victoria Market, unfortunately. So, I decided to just explore some more and walk around. At least I'm getting my workout in with all this walking! I did manage to find a place called Pretzel World (definitely where my mom would go every day!). I also found a very cool place called "The Little Library." Basically, you can take books, or leave books, or return books, free of charge. I think that this is just the greatest idea and gives people an opportunity to read no matter what. Oh yes, and I am going to try my first Kinder Egg. These are apparently like a huge childhood favorite here and in Europe. From what I've gathered, they are very similar to what the WonderBall used to be! I am super stoked to try it. Also, I have caught a cold. You wouldn't think that would happen here would you? I think it may be because I am in a new environment and I usually get a cold when that happens. It also may be because it's not the warmest here, surprisingly. So far, it's been between 50-70 degrees F. So today I bough some cold medicine (no vitamin C :P). I also got some good advice from one of Brett's friends who is studying Chinese Medicine, who told me to smash together spring onion and ginger and strain it like tea, then add mint and drink a cup of it. It sounds disgusting...but it's supposed to clear your sinuses...we'll see!
